About the Irish website
Irish history has been marked by great waves of emigration. As a country our population has been more than halved by emigration over time. This project aims to document the immense flow of emigration to America that took place from 1820 to 1920 through the letters that emigrants sent back. By its nature it is a work in progress, as more material comes to light all the time. If you have letters, records, advertisements or any documents which you would like to donate to the project they would be much appreciated.
